Required course for Research Track Students

This course will guide students through the research process and writing of their master's thesis. It will introduce students to various approaches to history and will focus on: (1) how to conduct historical research on a particular topic and how to arrive at that topic's historiography using available resources, (2) how to read and analyze sources (3) how to construct a coherent narrative on a topic, and (4) how to effectively present research and arguments in writing. The course will be structured around the basic compositional elements of a master's thesis proposal. Most weeks there will be a short writing exercise (300-500 words).
